Remember in the winter when watermelon was expensive? These pictures are from then.
Max hadn’t had watermelon for a long time and longingly requested it as we passed by in the shopping cart. Grocery shopping requests don’t often influence me with the grand exception of something healthy and I gave in.
Max couldn’t stop talking about the watermelon the whole shopping trip. I kept reminding him that we have to wait until we get home to eat it.
The cashier was aware of his watermelon excitement, and put the watermelon next to him in the front of the cart after ringing it up. I was at Fareway so someone else was pushing the cart out to the car and Max snuck a bite of watermelon while I wasn’t in front of him! I wouldn’t have noticed right away except that he was spitting out green rind as I put him in his car seat! I told him that we don’t eat the green part of the watermelon and that he needs to wait until we get home.
This is what happened when we got home. Happy Independence Day!
